Iranian Officials Confiscate Foreign Tanker
Mojtaba Ghahremani, the head of the judiciary in Iran’s southern Hormozgan region, stated that the ship was halted in the Sea of Oman “due to deficiencies in the legal documents concerning the vessel’s cargo.”
He explained that the tanker faces charges for allegedly carrying illegally transported fuel.
Details regarding the ship’s country of origin and its intended port of arrival have not yet been revealed.
According to Ghahremani, seventeen individuals — including the captain and all crew members — have been taken into custody as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Authorities are still gathering supporting materials, cross-checking the vessel’s documentation, analyzing the fuel, and confirming the total quantity on board.
Ghahremani mentioned that the judicial system intends to share the findings of the investigation once the process concludes.
